Business Continuity:
"...disasters take many forms. They're caused by gale force
winds, sudden floods, releases of deadly chemicals, fire, ice,
even upheavals of the earth itself. When disaster strikes, the
best protection is knowing what to do..." FEMA
In today's highly complex and technologically dependent business
world, a Disaster Recovery Plan is an integral part of any
company.
According to a study by the University of Texas Centre for
Research on Information Systems, nearly half the companies that
lose their data in a disaster never reopen, and 90% are out of
business within two years. In order to be prepared you need to
have a Disaster Recovery Plan in place that will ensure that your
valuable data is safeguarded and that should the necessity arise,
that the integrity of your data is sound.
Many companies have some system whereby regular backups and virus
scans are done, but often the integrity of the backup data is
never checked and the virus protection used is out of date. This
can often cause the backup to fail when needed.
